The talk was mainly about democracy and politics and how it’s influenced by new technologies. In a world where a huge amount of personal data is published online, where smartphone are powerful weapons that could be used against their owners, Google invests more than ever in encryption technologies. Eric Schmidt states that the fight for privacy is on. Data permanence can become a digital scar since information is not revocable anymore. Privacy will be a major battle in the Big Data era.
